Passwords must meet complexity requirements for all systems that are capable of using complex passwords.

Password complexity requirement for Microsoft Windows systems:

  • The password does not contain all or part of the user's account name.
  • The password is at least eight characters long and not more than 26.
  • The password contains characters from three of the following four categories:
    • English uppercase characters (A - Z)
    • English lowercase characters (a - z)
    • Base 10 digits (0 - 9)
    • Non-alphanumeric (For example: !, $, #, or %)
    These complexity requirements are enforced upon password change or creation of new passwords.

Passwords must be kept private and not shared with others

Passwords must be changed every 90 days
