Policy Communication & Coordination Committee

Roster Sample Documents Templates

This committee was formed to help departments, colleges and schools align business processes with information security policies driven by regulatory statutes, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) and the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Members were selected for this committee because of expertise and experience within each business unit. The PCCC will meet regularly to discuss existing and pending Information Technology policies. These discussions will focus on the policies themselves and the ways in which those policies will affect university business on a day-to-day business.   OUHSC IT is focused on establishing a broad base of policies, processes and standards to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. These polices can be found on this web site at Policies. In order to maximize the effectiveness of these documents, it is crucial to solicit feedback from users about how policy will affect university workflow. This need will drive the two primary purposes for the PCCC:

  • Communication: Committee members will serve as an important communication channel between IT and user groups around campus. Members will gain additional understanding into the importance and purpose of existing and developing policy and be able to relay that information to the business units around campus. At the same time, members will be able to serve as a representative of a business unit in order to voice opinion regard the modification or development of policy.
  • Coordination: This committee will be a sounding board for the best ways to implement policy compliance into existing workflows. Members will share experience and expertise in an advisory role to help all OUHSC business units adapt workflows in order to become compliant with policy.
